CLASSES
For those of you who are more detail-oriented, here is a list of courses offered at Ainsworth University. This is not an extensive list, and you can choose to disregard it if you'd like. A huge bulk of this information is borrowed from Emory University, but apart from the curriculum, the school is in no way based on, or even similar to, Emory.
About this list These are only the classes for the main college. Ainsworth University also has a medical, law, and business college that are their own campuses not too far away from the main campus. These are more for graduate students, but undergraduate students are free to take select classes from there. Feel free to use your own creativity for those classes. About GERs (General Education Requirements) To graduate from Ainsworth, students are required to take the following courses: WRT: 3 writing-intensive courses. There will be courses that fulfill this requirement in all different subjects. MQR: 2 Math & Quantitative Reasoning courses. SNT: 2 Science, Nature, Technology courses. HSC: 2 History, Society, Cultures courses. HAP: 3 Humanities, Arts, and Performance courses. HAL: 2 Humanities, Arts, and Language courses. PED: 3 Physical Education and Dance courses. Some of these requirement will overlap, so taking one course could fulfill more than one requirement, if chosen properly. High school transfer credit from AP and IB may also be used to overwrite some of these requirements. Graduation does not have to happen in 4 years; students may choose to take as long as he/she wishes but must have completed all GERs before they can properly graduate. About Majors/Minors Students may choose up to two majors, two majors and a minor, or one major and two minors (or anything in between.) For ease of RP sake, a total of 40 credit hours needs to be taken in that subject area for a major and a total of 24 credit hours in that subject area for a minor. Student must maintain at least a GPA of 2.0 in his/her major and/or minor area to get that degree. Since most classes offered are 4 credit hours, that's about 10 classes per major and 6 classes per minor. Students can choose which classes they would like to take as long as the credit hour requirements are met. Obviously, intro classes need to be taken before advanced classes. |

Independent study and internships are also available in each subject for advanced and driven students who have already exhausted the list of courses or are looking for a challenge. (Intro courses in the subject must already be completed.) For summer students, various study abroad classes are also available. Study abroad generally lasts for roughly three weeks and there are two different time frames: June study abroad, and July study abroad. Those classes are not listed below, but feel free to use your creativity for study abroad. The list is borrowed from Emory University which has more than one block for summer classes. But since Ainsworth only has one block, assume that all classes are offered from May-August. Also, please disregard the class times and teachers and feel free to create your own times for these classes to fit into your schedule. Can't find the class you're looking for? Take a look at the Fall 2010 calendar below for more classes. |
